The Hungarian capital has a wide variety of photo locations. Thankfully, the city is very walkable, so most of these spots are within a few kilometers of each other. However, if you want to get the best shots possible, you need to know where to look. There are plenty of vantage points, but some are better than others. For example, the most popular spot is from the Chain Bridge looking over Parliament buildings, but there is a far better one on Gellert Hill that isn’t as busy. Getting up there early in the day is best to avoid any tourists, but twilight or even nighttime can offer some great opportunities.
Budapest is also home to the largest medicinal baths in Europe, and this unique building can be a fun photo opportunity as well. Especially if you go in the morning when most of the Instagrammers have left, you will be able to capture some stunning images without anyone else around. Another great thing to do is take photos of the Szechenyi Baths at night. This will give you a very different atmosphere, with the lights reflecting off the water.
It is worth mentioning that the Budapest City Card can be very useful when shooting in the city. This card will allow you to save money by getting free transportation and discounted entry to many museums, attractions, and other things to do. You can purchase a Budapest City Card online, or at any of the many tourist information centers around town.
Another cool location that is very close to the Parliament building is the Central Market Hall. It is a large building with many different stalls and vendors selling food, clothing, and other items. It is a great place to take photos, and the interior is very interesting as well.
The Central Market Hall can be a great location for photographers looking to take some portraits. The large amount of natural light in this building will make taking portraits much easier, and the stalls and other things in the room can provide an interesting background.
If you want to shoot the parliament buildings from a new angle, there is a good spot just to the south of them over by where the cruise boats dock. The line of sight is sometimes blocked by the riverboats, but if you can work around that, there is a very unique perspective on this part of the city.
Lastly, if you are the kind of person who likes to try out some weapons that you would normally only see in movies, then there is a shooting range in Budapest called Celeritas. They offer a variety of packages, and their website shows just under 300 different guns to choose from. They are open from 12 – 4 PM five days a week, and they also have some other activities to do as well. It is a lot of fun and will certainly leave you feeling like an action hero! shooting Budapest
