Puerto Aventuras Yachts is an upscale residential area built on two crystal clear marinas, a golf course and a beautiful stretch of beach. This little known neighbor to Playa del Carmen is tucked away in the jungle and offers resorts, hotels, apartments and villas that all share amazing views of the marinas and ocean.
Boat trips are a fun way to see the stunning surroundings of this area, as well as to explore some of the more remote beaches of the Riviera Maya. This can be done either with a private guide or with a group of friends and family. There are many different options for boat tours, including snorkeling, fishing and a full day cruise to some of the nearby islands.
The restaurants in the marina have a unique vibe with the restaurants sitting on the dolphin lagoon, overlooking the yachts, catamaran and fishing boats that are moored just beyond the boardwalk. It’s a wonderful setting for a romantic dinner or to enjoy a drink as you watch the sunset.
There are plenty of great dining choices in the area, including seafood and Italian cuisines. The Massimo restaurant serves a variety of pasta dishes, pizza and mouth watering deserts. This restaurant is open Monday to Saturday 3 pm – 11pm (closed Sunday).
Aside from the restaurants in the marina, there are several other places to dine. The Pier right infront of the Palapa Manati is a good option with seafood, pasta and a variety of drinks. A large grocery store called Chedraui is also located in the area and sells food, drinks and beach gear.
During the week, there is a market in the main plaza near the gazebo where locals and tourists shop for fresh fruits, vegetables and other goods. There is a small museum in the center of town with various items related to sea life that is worth checking out as well.
One of the main attractions in the area is the Dolphin Discovery park, which allows you to get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures. There are many different activities that can be done at this facility including swimming, feeding and even riding on a dolphin.
There is a huge variety of hotels and villas in the area, from budget options to high-end luxurious accommodations. A lot of the rooms offer stunning ocean views and come with modern amenities such as flat screen TVs and Wi-Fi.
The beaches in the area are pretty spectacular as well, with pristine white sand and calm waters that are perfect for swimming. The rocky areas around the two marina entrances are perfect for exploring and the beautiful Chan Yuum beach is a favorite for those who want to walk out to the cliffs and see the gorgeous marine life below.
