Steroids Thailand
Anabolic steroids are illegal in most countries but they are sold on the black market and used legally in some. This was highlighted by the death of Australian amateur bodybuilder Aziz “Zyzz” Shavershian who died in a sauna while on a’steroid holiday’ in Thailand. Numerous Australians have since admitted to travelling overseas to “cycle” – taking combinations of steroids every 48 hours for up to two months until they are bulked up.

In Australia, the import of steroids and hormones is strictly controlled. But pharmacies in Bangkok and Pattaya offer some brands for up to 10 times less than they sell for on the Australian market. The cost of the drugs is a factor but it is also the lack of health warnings that lure some people into taking them.

It is estimated that more than a third of the steroids seized in Australia are from Thailand. Some are smuggled into the country by declaring them as veterinary medicines or animal feed. Others are injected into the bloodstream of tourists by rogue pharmacists who do not bother to check their customers’ ID.

Steroids can lead to serious longterm damage to the liver, kidneys and heart and cause a wide range of side effects including infertility and breast growth in women. Educating young people about the dangers of steroid use and full disclosure are the only ways to curb their misuse. Those who ignore the warnings are likely to regret their decisions later in life – often when they are on dialysis and struggling to find a partner after losing all their hair. Steroids Thailand
